        Yamcha, going off of his character stats, is only ahead of Krillin.
However, there are two things that allow him to compete with Piccolo for third-
best character at the higher levels; first is his high amount of physical
attacks, which combined with a Power rating can make him godly. Secondly, Yamcha
is the only person with an item specifically for him, called Perfume, which is
picked up at Pilaf's Castle. This lowers his defense big-time, but raises all
his other stats drastically, and also increases his accuracy rating greatly.

        Unfortunately, he is not really used much after this, so unless you plan
on taking on the secret boss you should stick with using Piccolo. This is
compounded by how Yamcha's stats work out; Yamcha does not get a stat boost
until Level 35. Until then, he only goes up by 2 points in Speed. After that,
however, Power, Defense and Technique all go up by 2, while his Speed goes up by
3, meaning that it is in the higher levels that he begins to develop and come on
par with Piccolo.
