Basil
Basil is a botanist and writer who moved to Mineral Village with his family to study the local plant life. He is the husband of Anna and the father of Mary, and together they manage the village Library, an important source of knowledge for both villagers and the player.
In his daily life, Basil spends most of his time at the Library, and he can be found at the Inn almost every night. He has a deep interest in nature and plants, especially colored grasses, mushrooms, and even poisonous mushrooms. However, he dislikes fish, ores, and wool. Basil’s birthday is on the 11th of Summer.
Basil is also the author of several books stored in the Library. In addition, he plays a role in a special event involving the discovery of the White Flower on Mother’s Hill during a snowy day. If the player tells Basil and Ellen about this flower the following day, it adds emotional depth and richness to the story of Harvest Moon: Back to Nature.
